MUSIC CONERTS
We are returning to Friendswood Friends Church for our Season 21 Music Concerts.
November 14th - 15th | American Album Music Concerts
May 15th - 16th | Spring Music Concerts
In honor of our 250th Celebration for America, musicians are invited to perform selections at "American Album," which centers on music, tunes, songs, and pieces reflecting the diverse music of America. Musicians deemed ready by their teachers will perform at Friendswood Friends Church. Families are able to choose their students' music performance time on either Saturday, November 14th or Sunday, November 15th.
How can you start preparing for these concerts?
Encourage your musician to listen to varied songs and compositions to give them a head start on selecting performance music. (Selected performance music is not limited to American tunes or composers. Any appropriate pieces including classical are acceptable.)
Put the date on your calendar and plan your activities with music dates in mind.
Let family and friends know - all music concerts are open to family and friends at no charge.
Music Concert Performance Choice Form
For our November Concerts, Chara Music Dept. offers families the option to choose their preferred performance slot due to the busy holiday season. Using the form below, please select your FIRST AND SECOND choice of day and time for your musician's performance. Siblings will perform at the same time slot to keep families together, so be sure to indicate this on this form if it applies to you.
Choices are due by Friday, October 30th. After this date, performance times will be assigned.

CONCERT ETIQUETTE
As always, exemplary behavior is expected from our students in any musical venue. After each student performs, they will return to the group seating area with their family and listen to other musicians.
- Arrive 10-15 minutes prior to their Music Concert in order to be in your seat before the performance begins.
- If younger children in attendance are restless, disruptive or crying, please remove them from the auditorium promptly.
- REMAIN FOR THE ENTIRE EVENT out of respect for all performers and families.
- Please turn off cell phones or any other device which could disrupt the performance of a hard-working student.
- Leave all snacks in the car.
ATTIRE
Dress for the event is Sunday Best.
Please avoid T-shirts, torn jeans, shorts, and flip-flops. The church has specifically asked that students and guests avoid wearing items of clothing with loose glitter, as this creates difficulties for church maintenance. Participants are welcome to wear patriotic colors, but are not required to.
ARRIVAL
The November concerts will NOT be held in the auditorium but in the church chapel, located to the far right of the auditorium. This venue should be accessed from the parking lot through the double doors at the end of the church building under the smaller portico. The chapel is to the right after entering through the double doors. Students will sit with their families during this event and return to that seating after performing. In consideration of our back-to-back concerts, we ask that families NOT arrive more than 15 minutes before your start time. If the previous concert is still underway, we ask that you wait quietly in the hallway leading to the chapel.
CONCERT DONATIONS
In lieu of ticket fees for concert attendance, the Chara Music Department collects items for non-profit groups serving the community. Collection baskets will be available at all music concerts for the following highest-need items.
The mission of The Mercy Tree is to feed homeless people in the Clear Lake area. Currently, these meals are prepared offsite by volunteers and delivered and served to homeless clients at various churches in the Clear Lake area. The vision of The Mercy Tree is to provide a safe, comfortable environment in which homeless people can sit and enjoy a meal at no cost. We also have volunteers who serve by picking up donated food, clothing, and toiletries around the Clear Lake Area. These items are sorted and distributed as needed. Collections are for the homeless population in our area (which is often homeless veterans) and include the following items:
Adult-size casual/athletic socks - Men's or women's, any color (no dress socks and no children's socks)
Disposable Razors
Solid Antiperspirants
Travel-size body wipes (such as Wet Ones) (Does NOT include Huggies/baby wipes in large containers)
